What is Botox?

BOTOX is a neuromodulator aka “wrinkle relaxer” used to smooth facial lines and soften wrinkles, achieving a customized desired appearance. The way that this product works is to stop the signal from the nerves to the muscles that cause wrinkles to form.  While this softens existing wrinkles, they can also be prevented from forming at all. Botox has become a popular household name for this treatment.  Our expert injectors may recommend Dysport or a combination of both to target your concerns and reach your personal goals. When a line is deeper or in an area of constant movement a dermal filler and botox combination work best for a comprehensive therapy.

What should I expect at my Botox appointment?

Your injector will ask you to make expressions and evaluate your muscular anatomy. They will then map out a treatment plan tailored to your individual area. They will cleanse the area and inject the product needed. Please see below for pre and post instructions. A numbing agent isn’t often needed; however we offer ice as a numbing agent when needed.

What is the recovery like?

Botox injections are minimally invasive cosmetic injections with minimal downtime. Some patients experience minimal bruising, although rare. There may be minimal swelling at injection sites that typically resolves within an hour. It is advised to avoid any exercise or laying down for 4 hours post injection. No massage or manipulation to the area to insure product stays in the area where injected.

How do I prepare for Botox treatments?

It is recommended to avoid NSAIDS up to 2 weeks prior to injection to avoid excessive bleeding or bruising. Staying hydrated days before and throughout the day of your appointment will enhance your results.

Is it safe?

Botox has been FDA approved since 2002 for glabella lines.
